A cataract is a clouding of the lens in the eye and is a normal part of aging. Cataract surgery involves removing the cloudy cataract lens and implanting a new lens to restore proper vision. Glaucoma is optic nerve damage, usually from high eye pressure, that leads to vision damage. Glaucoma is a potentially very serious eye disease as it can lead to vision loss.
